Don’t get me wrong, I agree with that quote 100%. If it’s one of the few things I hate, it’s when parents are disrespected in any way possible. We all do it, it happens even when it shouldn’t.

I understand if someone doesn’t respect their parent(s) because of something horrible that has happened between them such as being abused, being walked out on, etc. But disrespecting your parent(s) just because they’re giving you “bullshit”, they’re not letting you go out, or they’re just being “fucked up”? Now ain’t that something.. 

They’re parents. It’s going to happen. They get stressed. They get emotional. They get overprotective. They worry. They care. They let things phase them most of the time. And they are going to take it out on you once in a while or maybe more than that, but you need to understand that they’re still in your lives for a reason, they’re still there for you even when it seems like they aren’t. They’re a huge part of why you’re still here today. 

You don’t think that they have bad days? You don’t think that even when they aren’t feeling okay that they still have to stay strong just because they don’t want to look weak in front of anyone, especially you as their son/ daughter? They have a breaking point, just like each and every one of us. 

Think about those who don’t have parents. Think about those who HAD parents, but don’t anymore. They would trade anything/ everything just get them back. And you’re over here complaining about how much of a pain it is to listen to your parents lecture you about being safe.

How about instead of talking back, tell them you love them and you’re here for them for once? Bet you they haven’t heard you say that at least once. Good fucking going.
